As a not-for-profit, Aboriginal community-controlled organisation, we advocate for policies that empower and support Aboriginal communities, ensuring every child grows up safe, strong in identity, and connected to culture.They also operate the AbSec Learning and Development Centre (AbSec LDC), the only Aboriginal-owned registered training organisation (RTO) in NSW, offering nationally recognised qualifications in family welfare, child protection, disability support, leadership, and governance.The Role:Absec are seeking a PR and Communications Coordinator to play a key role in shaping and maintaining AbSec’s brand identity, public profile, and advocacy messaging. In this role, you will develop and execute compelling communication strategies across media, digital platforms, and advocacy campaigns to engage stakeholders, including government, community organisations, and the media.If you have a passion for storytelling, public relations, and creating real impact, this is the perfect opportunity to contribute to an Aboriginal-led organisation making a difference in the lives of children and families across NSW.Key Responsibilities:Develop high-quality content including media releases, reports, newsletters, and digital campaigns.Maintain and strengthen AbSec’s brand voice and messaging across all communication channels.Monitor political and media landscapes, identifying opportunities for public discourse and advocacy.Translate complex policy issues into accessible and engaging narratives.Establish and manage relationships with media outlets, journalists, and community leaders.Assist executives with briefing notes, media talking points, and public engagements.Collaborate with internal teams and Aboriginal organisations to develop strategic campaigns.Attend AbSec events statewide to craft engaging content and highlight community impact.About You:You are a creative, strategic, and culturally aware communicator who is passionate about Aboriginal self-determination and advocacy.
